Sandy City Police Department Upgrades to DigitalPatroller DP-2

10.05.09
Sandy City Police Department recently made the move to upgrade to the latest in-car video technology. Since 2004 the department has relied on DigitalPatroller's first-generation DP-1 to capture, manage and store their video evidence. Although the units performed well, command staff decided to upgrade to the DP-2, which provides enhanced video quality and a more robust software package for managing video.

Digital Safety Technologies in North Carolina develops the DigitalPatroller, which is one of the most widely deployed camera systems in the country. The system includes the in-car DVR, cameras & microphone, a mechanism to transfer the video evidence to a server back at the station, and a comprehensive software suite for managing the evidence at the administrative level.

The city of Sandy issued a request for proposal for the new upgrade, and 14 in-car video vendors participated. In the end we decided to stay with DigitalPatroller, said Jeff Barber, Information Services Manager for Sandy City PD. It still has the best back-end software on the market. The program is being funded by Federal Grants and the department's annual budget.

According to Mr. Barber the city uses their in-car video program mostly for patrol and traffic stops. I'm excited that we're able to upgrade for Sandy City, said Chance Waid, Regional Sales Manager for Digital Safety Technologies. The DP-2's will bring them current with the technology and provide the next level of protection for their officers and their citizens.
