Suspected gunman rescued from burning car in Plano

PLANO, Texas -- A man accused of shooting three people was rescued by suburban Dallas police from a burning car used in an escape attempt.
Plano police officer Andrae Smith said the man was in serious condition Saturday morning at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Smith said officers responded to a call at 2:36 a.m. Saturday in northwest Plano and discovered two women and a man had been shot. The suspected gunman escaped in a vehicle that caught on fire after he lost control and was trapped.
Smith said the shooting victims were listed in serious condition at a hospital.
Dallas-Fort Worth television station WFAA reported 13 children were in the home when the shootings took place, but none were injured. They have been placed with family and neighbors.
Charges against the suspect are pending.
